Trent Alexander-Arnold suffers ankle injury, 2025 season in doubt
Real Madrid claimed a 3-0 win away to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga, with Kylian Mbappe netting a brace. This victory ended their three-match winless La Liga run, taking them within a point of leaders Barcelona in the table.
In this match, Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered one of the best performances since joining Real Madrid from Liverpool. He picked up the first assist in La Liga when Mbappe scored the opening goal.
However, Trent’s happiness didn't last long. In the 55th minute, he was forced off with a muscular injury. The former Liverpool defender was seen clutching his left thigh before receiving treatment from the medical staff on the pitch and was then replaced by Raul Asencio.
According to some Spanish outlets, Alexander-Arnold's injury is a serious one. He could be sidelined for one to six weeks, potentially ruling him out for the remainder of 2025. The 27-year-old is scheduled for further examinations in the next few days to determine the severity of the problem.
Meanwhile, Camavinga was substituted in the 69th minute with an ankle problem. Fortunately, the problem is reported to be less serious. The French midfielder is expected to be out for around three weeks, Cope reports.
Alexander Arnold’s debut season at the Bernabeu has been interupted by injuries. In September, he was absent for a month after picking up a thigh problem in the Club World Cup.
