Serie A top scorers 2024/25: No Inter, AC Milan, or Napoli player in the Top 5
Despite winning the league, Napoli did not have the strongest attack. That distinction belonged to Inter Milan, who scored 79 goals compared to Napoli’s 59. Even so, neither side produced the league’s top scorer. In this article, nowgoalpro.net reviews the Serie A top scorers 2024/25.
Who is the Serie A top scorer in the 2024/25 season?
Leading the list is the striker from the third-placed team, Mateo Retegui of Atalanta. The Italian forward made an immediate impact at his new club, scoring 25 goals in 36 matches to win the Serie A top scorer award. Retegui combines strong physical attributes with excellent positioning and a clinical finish. He is also effective when dropping deep to link up with Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere, forming one of the most versatile attacking trios in the league.

Second on the list is Moise Kean, a striker who struggled at Juventus but enjoyed a remarkable revival at Fiorentina. He scored 19 goals in 32 matches, finishing second overall. Kean’s form was a key factor in Fiorentina’s sixth-place finish, which secured European qualification. Under coach Raffaele Palladino, Fiorentina built their attacking system around Kean, supported by creative players such as Andrea Colpani and Albert Guðmundsson. Both Kean and Retegui are now strong candidates for the central striker role in the Italian national team.
Third is Ademola Lookman, who also impressed for Atalanta. Alongside Retegui and De Ketelaere, Lookman was part of one of the league’s most dangerous attacking units. He scored 15 goals in 31 matches and created many chances for Retegui. His performances earned him a place in the Ballon d’Or top 15 and attracted interest from major European clubs.
Despite finishing first and second, Napoli and Inter players only appear from the top five onward. Fifth on the list is Romelu Lukaku, who enjoyed a strong resurgence under Antonio Conte at Napoli. Despite being new to the team, Lukaku quickly became a key figure thanks to his ability to hold up the ball and link play. His tally of 14 goals and 10 assists made him one of the few players to record a “double double” in Serie A.
Scott McTominay also played an important role after leaving Manchester United. Used effectively by Conte as an attacking midfielder, he scored 12 goals and was voted the best player of the Serie A season, becoming a crucial part of Napoli’s system.
At Inter Milan, the striking partnership of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez remained highly effective under Simone Inzaghi. Together, they contributed roughly one-third of Inter’s total league goals, helping Inter become the highest-scoring team in Serie A. In most matches, Thuram focused on link-up play, while Lautaro, despite some inconsistency, continued to score regularly and apply pressure from the front.
At AC Milan, Christian Pulisic continued his strong form following his move from Chelsea. He was one of the few players to record at least 10 goals and 10 assists in the league. Since joining Milan in 2023, Pulisic has been the player with the most direct goal contributions in Serie A, surpassing even Lautaro Martínez. Recently, he has been used more centrally as an attacking midfielder, drifting across the pitch to create and finish chances. Despite frequent changes in Milan’s striker options, Pulisic has remained one of the team’s most consistent performers.
Other notable names such as Riccardo Orsolini, Artem Dovbyk, and Lorenzo Lucca also enjoyed strong seasons, emerging as key players for their respective clubs.
