Kai Havertz expected to miss 4 weeks with another injury
Kai Havertz has not played for Arsenal since the opening Premier League match against Man United. The German forward suffered a knee injury and underwent surgery the following week. Since then, he has been out of the squad for four months.
According to Football.London, Havertz has picked up another injury while recovering from his knee problem. With these setbacks, he is expected to miss a few more weeks, potentially until early 2026. If his recovery goes well, he could return for the league match against Liverpool on 8 January. Otherwise, his comeback may come in the FA Cup third-round tie against Portsmouth three days later.
In November, sources told the Daily Mail that Havertz would be back within a week, but nothing has changed since then. Earlier this month, Mikel Arteta said about Havertz: “Matter of weeks. Let’s see how it evolves in the next few weeks. He’s doing really well, he’s doing stuff on the pitch, but I think he needs some time.”
Things have not gone smoothly for Havertz, who has struggled with injuries. Earlier this year, he suffered a hamstring injury in February and was sidelined for three months. Before that, he also picked up two other injuries during the 2024/25 season but still managed 36 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists.
This time, however, the situation may be more complicated. Arsenal already have two strikers in Gabriel Jesus and Viktor Gyökeres - who just got signed in the summer. If Havertz cannot return to his best form, there is a chance he could leave the club next summer.
Nevertheless, Havertz will not have much time to hesitate, as he needs minutes to regain form ahead of the World Cup 2026, which is only six months away. Germany now also have Nick Woltemade, a new signing for Newcastle. The 23-year-old forward has scored five goals in 13 Premier League games and could challenge Havertz’s place in the national team.
Arsenal will face Everton on Sunday at 3 AM (GMT+7). With 36 points, Arteta’s side are still top of the table, but one defeat could change everything, as Man City are only two points behind.
