Erling Haaland hits 100 Premier League goals in the fewest games
Manchester City secured a 5-4 victory against Fulham in Matchweek 14. In the match, The Citizens went up 3-0 early in the match and later led 5-1 in the second half before conceding 3 consecutive goals in the 57th, 72nd and 78th minutes.
Erling Haaland delivered a superb performance, scoring the opener in the 17th minute and providing two assists. The Norwegian has now hit 100 Premier League goals for Man City, a milestone he reached after just 111 matches, surpassing Alan Shearer’s previous mark of 124 games.
In a postmatch interview, Haaland said: “Of course, it means a lot. First of all, to score 100 goals in the Premier League for City is a thing I wanted to do when I came here.
“But [to do it] this quickly, I didn’t expect. Now it’s happened, I’m super proud. It’s a huge thing.
“I think after my career, when I look back at this it will be a huge moment for this game and also a game I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
He also shared his thoughts on Man City’s thrilling win at Craven Cottage: “I think if you’re sitting at home now, then you enjoyed that game. It was a chaotic game. Nine goals in a game is a lot. In the end we win and we’re happy, but it’s not the best game.
“Every game is a different game, you can’t think of the games that have been, you need to focus ahead. The reality is we lost against Newcastle and Leverkusen and now we won two in a row. So we need to keep going, it’s a tough schedule. There’s many games now in the next month, so game by game, I will recover as best as possible.
With 15 goals, Haaland leads this season’s Premier League scoring race, holding a four-goal advantage over second-placed Igor Thiago (24, Brentford) on 11. Ever since joining City in 2022-23, he has been in pursuit of his third Golden Boot.
Man City remains firmly in the Premier League title race, with Pep’s side now just two points behind Arsenal, who play on Wednesday.
