Cristiano Ronaldo announces partnership with ChatGPT's rival, marching $1.4 billion net worth

Cristiano Ronaldo has just revealed his investment in Perplexity, a new AI-powered engine that allows users to ask any questions like ChatGPT. He even mentioned Perplexity in a speech for the Prestige Award in Portugal 2 months ago.

Partnership between Ronaldo and Perplexity has been announced through his X account on Friday with a promotion video. The Portugal national team’s captain said: "Curiosity is a requirement for greatness. You win when you keep asking new questions every day. That's why I'm proud to announce my investment in Perplexity".

Perplexity is an American-founded company in 2022 and valued at $20 billion as of September 2025. The AI-powered engine is considered ChatGPT's new rival, as both are web search engines to answer every question. Ronaldo mentioned through his page: "Perplexity is powering the world's curiosity, and together we will inspire everyone to ask more ambitious questions".

Previously in October, the 40-year-old forward referenced Perplexity in his speech after winning the Prestige Award in Portugal. He said that he was curious about the award and did a search on Perplexity to answer the question and got "a little help".

New partnership with Perplexity extends Ronaldo's investment and keeps him as the wealthiest footballer in the world, at $1.4 billion in October 2025. His earnings are mostly from his salary at Al Nassr, around 300 million Euros, including a bonuses 15 per cent ownership stake. Furthermore, Ronaldo has lots of partnerships in various sectors like a lifetime deal with Nike, finance with Binance, heath-care with Herbalife or even his own brand - CR7.

Ronaldo became the wealthiest footballer in the world

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 after the 2022 World Cup and just extended his contract in June 2025, after the season ended. According to reporters, his new contract is valued at 178 million Euros, making him the highest-paid athlete in the world. Unfortunately, Ronaldo hasn't won any Saudi Pro League or AFC Champions League. In the 2025/26 season, Al Nassr remained undefeated, winning all 9 games and having a 4-point lead against Al Hilal. Ronaldo, surprisingly not the top scorer in the league, currently has 10 goals, 1 goal behind his new teammate - Joao Felix.

Saudi Pro League is having 3 weeks off after Gameweek 9 and Ronaldo with teammates will be back on December 22th, playing Al Najma - the team has only 1 point after 9 matches.
